[DEMO] Describing banking murābaḥa: a literature survey

The mark of the Scientific Foundation for Financial Transactions on a dark field

This study surveys the contemporary literature addressing the description of banking murābaḥa. It is confined to survey and classification and does not arrive at a ruling.

Scope

The method is descriptive. It gathers what has been written, classifies it, and identifies where researchers agree and differ in how they represent the transaction itself.

Axes of the survey

  1. Representation of the transaction in banking literature.
  2. Representation in contemporary jurisprudential literature.
  3. Points at which the two representations diverge.
Divergence in description precedes divergence in ruling, and much disagreement dissolves once the picture is made precise.
